15 Overseas PSL Players And Their Best Game Strategy

With the COVID-19 pandemic still looming large across various parts of the world, the PSL 2021 tournament was suspended midway in March. The tournament is slated to resume on June 2, with matches scheduled in Karachi.

The PSL 2021 with its six teams – Islamabad United, Lahore Qalandars, Peshawar Zalmi, Karachi Kings Multan Sultans and Quetta Gladiators, along with their selected players and replacements will soon be back in action to give us a generous rush of adrenaline!

The 6th season of PSL consists of upto 15 local and 7 foreign players in each team. All the players have been selected under various categories including Platinum, Diamond, Gold, Silver & Emerging.

The number of Pakistan Super League (PSL) Teams will be the same as that in the 2020 season, i.e. the PSL Season 6. After the Karachi Kings emerged victorious in November 2020, Lahore Qalandars, Karachi Kings, and Multan Sultans are believed to be the strongest contenders for the PSL title trophy this year.

    Ben DunkAn Australian cricketer who plays for Lahore Qalanders under PSL, Ben Dunk had also been a part of Karachi Kings previously. This left-handed batsman has a skill or two to showcase even as a wicket-keeper. Besides, he is no less competent as a bowler, bowling right arm off-spin.
  4. David Wiese
    David WieseCurrently playing for Lahore Qalandars in PSL, David Wiese is a South African cricketer who made his debut for Eastern province at the age of 20. This right-arm medium pacer and a handy lower-order bat has made 67 first-class appearances since his debut in October 2005.
  5. James Vince
    James VinceThis right-handed batsman is a delight to watch whenever he’s in action. The captain of Hampshire County Cricket Club, Vince was part of the English squad that won the 2019 Cricket World Cup. Currently playing for Multan Sultans, Vince interestingly had Karachi as his first domestic league team.
  6. Dan Christian
    Dan ChristianHailed as a Twenty20 specialist, Christian has carved out a niche for himself as a strong hitter and a remarkable medium pacer. This Australian cricketer was picked by Karachi Kings for PSL in November 2020. After playing the first few matches, he withdrew from the tournament this March, thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic.
  7. Joe Clarke
    Joe ClarkeA right-hand batsman who also plays as a wicket-keeper, Clarke is an English cricketer who managed to score 46 runs in just 23 balls in his debut match in PSL, hitting six fours and three sixes. This magnificent performance earned a seven-wicket win for Karachi Kings against 2019 champions Quetta Gladiators.
  8. Chris Lynn
    Chris LynnOne of the most accomplished batsmen in the Australian domestic circuit, Chris Lynn managed to make a mark as a hard-hitting right-hander. The fifth season of Pakistan League T20 had him as Lahore Qalanders’ leading and overall the second-highest run-scorer of the season. His 284 runs in 8 innings also included a knock of 113 not-out, which is Lynn’s best T20 score till date.
  9. Tom Kohler-Cadmore
    Tom Kohler-CadmoreA right-handed batsman from England, Cadmore was recruited into Peshawar Zalmi as a replacement for Liam Livingstone. He had a successful stint in the Abu Dhabi T10, and is believed to be equally eloquent both on and off the field.
  10. Ben Cutting
    Ben CuttingThis talented all-rounder from Australia was picked up by the Quetta Gladiators for the fifth season of the PSL Cricket. With a height of 6’4”, he has a towering presence, quite literally. A fast bowler and a prolific lower-order batsman rolled into one, Cutting is sure to pep up the Pakistan Super League 2021 with his fiery game.
  11. Chris Gayle
    Chris GayleHaving played international cricket for West Indies Gayle is a Jamaican player who has to his credit several records across the game’s all three formats. Signed first by Lahore Qalanders and then by Karachi Kings, he was finally picked by Quetta Gladiators. The first-ever batsman to hit 1000 sixes in T20 cricket, Gayle is expected to add oodles of thrill to the PSL.
  12. Ravi Bopara
    Ravi BoparaThis top-order batsman from England was catapulted to the status of an all-rounder, thanks to his skills at medium pace bowling. This February, he treated fans to a half-century for Peshawar Zalmi in their opening match. A decisive stroke player with Indian origin, Bopara plays for England and Sussex in all three formats.
  13. Lewis Gregory
    Lewis GregoryThis skilful all-rounder from England, this bright player won many hearts in the third match of the Pakistan Super League this year. He indeed had a crucial role to play in Islamabad United’s three-wicket victory over the Multan Sultans. The thrilling match that was held at the National Stadium Karachi really proved his mettle.
  14. David Miller
    David MillerA South African international cricketer, Miller has earned a reputation as an aggressive left-handed middle-order batsman, besides being an occasional wicket-keeper. Once he was roped in, Peshawar Zalmi got a fresh lease of life.
  15. Dale Steyn
    Dale SteynHaving played for the South African cricket team, Steyn is hailed by cricket enthusiasts as one of the greatest fast bowlers of all time and the best Test bowler of his generation. Given that he has maintained consistency in his performances, cricket fans are looking forward to seeing him in a stellar form for the Pakistan League T20 as he plays for Quetta Gladiators.
