Darren Sammy Appointed As CWI’s Board of Directors-What To Expect?
Who hasn’t heard of the well-known player from the West Indies cricket team, Daren Sammy? With two T20 World Cup victories to his credit, Daren Sammy has added yet another feather to his cap. Recently, he was appointed as an independent non-member director of the CWI Board. A meeting held on June 17 2021 was witness to this decision taken by the Cricket West Indies Board.

Having led West Indies to two back-to-back T20 titles in 2012 and 2016, Sammy is one of the three appointments of Independent Directors approved at the meeting. He will be serving this post for the next couple of years, along with Trinidadian Attorney Debra Coryat-Patton and Jamaican Surgeon and University Administrator, Dr. Akshai Mansingh. According to the Windies cricket team, Sammy feels honoured to be appointed as a CWI Director. This 37-year-old cricketer has previously represented West Indies in 38 Tests, 126 ODIs, and 68 T20s. he currently serves as the head coach of Pakistan Super League side Peshawar Zalmi. What’s more, he is also a cricket consultant for the St. Lucia Zouks in the. Besides, he is also the Goodwill Ambassador for St. Lucia. This hardly comes as a surprise, given that he is the first international cricketer from his native St. Lucia. The country even has a national stadium by his name, called the Daren Sammy Stadium.
