When and where will Caribbean Premier League 2021 matches be played? Check out the CPL 2021 Fixtures!
The ninth season of one of the most popular Twenty20 International (T20) cricket leagues, , is set to begin on August 26.
Overall, 33 matches will be played between August 26 and September 15, including 30 league games, 2 semi-final matches, and 1 final match. All 33 matches of CPL 2021 will be played at Warner Park in Basseterre, the capital city of Saint Kitts and Nevis.
It’s rare that all matches are played at the same venue. So, when the CPL announced that Warner Park, Saint Kitts and Nevis would host all the fixtures, there were concerns that it could deteriorate the pitch quality and put pressure on the park’s infrastructure.
But the administrators clarified that there are six training grounds around St Kitts, which franchises will use for training. It means that Warner Park is only hosting the matches, as it won’t be used for training.
Six teams will participate in the league: Guyana Amazon Warriors, Trinbago Knight Riders, Barbados Tridents, St Kitts & Nevis Patriots, Jamaica Tallawahs, and St Lucia Zouks.
Each team will play ten league matches. During the league stage, all teams will play against each other twice, totalling 30 league matches overall. Since league matches aren’t an elimination round, teams will have ample opportunity to make comebacks.
At the end of league matches, the top 4 teams will advance to the semi-finals, the knock-out stage. Both the semi-final matches are scheduled for September 14 2021. The winning teams will move to the Final, which will be played on September 15 to decide the winner of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2021 title.
A total of 33 matches over 21 days may seem like a tight schedule for the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2021, but this is the best the administrators could do this year. The Indian Premier League’s (IPL) second half will also be played soon after CPL 2021 is over.
This is the only window for CPL 2021 to happen, also considering that many players participate in IPL and CPL both. But cricket punters are not complaining because CPL 2021 is sure going to be a thrilling T20 tournament with exciting matches and talented players.
Some of the top international cricketers, like Kieron Pollard, Dwayne Bravo, Anrich Nortje, Chris Gayle, Shakib Al Hasan, Andre Russell, and Mohammad Amir will play in CPL 2021, which will make it an edge of the seat affair.
