IPL 2021 Schedule, Match Time-table, Venues, Timings and Fixtures
The biggest sporting event of India – the Indian Premier League (IPL) – is all set to resume its 14th season. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided September 19th as the date when VIVO IPL 2021’s remaining matches will begin in Dubai. Due to a worsening COVID-19 situation in the country, the BCCI had suspended IPL in May earlier this year.
Since then, cricket lovers and bettors have waited with bated breath for their favourite Twenty20 International (T20) tournament to begin. They would be super excited now that the BCCI has released the new schedule.
As per the new schedule, the IPL teams will play 31 matches, starting with the first match on September 19th between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians and ending with the final match on October 15th. There will be a lot of cricketing action for the punters to bet on, as several games are yet to be played.
The BCCI deserves credit for rescheduling IPL 2021 matches after COVID-19 brought a halt to the tournament earlier. The window to host the matches was really tight, as even the T20 World Cup is set to begin on October 17th.
Meanwhile, the board also urged the organizers of another T20 tournament, the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), to ensure that there was no overlap between IPL and CPL matches.
This was extremely important because a number of West Indian players participate in the IPL as well. Any overlap would have made it impossible for them to play in IPL and robbed cricket lovers of the fun and excitement those players bring to the IPL.
Then, the organizers had to move the tournament to the UAE due to COVID-19 related concerns in India. The BCCI has chosen to hold the matches in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah. Dubai will be playing host to 13 matches, 10 matches will happen in Sharjah, and the remaining 8 matches will happen in Abu Dhabi.
Of the 31 matches, 24 matches are scheduled to start at 7:30 PM IST, and the remaining 7 matches will begin at 3:30 PM, which means fans will be able to watch the matches easily. Moreover, 15 matches will be played on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, which is the most convenient time to watch sports for most people.
Given that the IPL is the most-loved cricket tournament, the organisers have given due consideration to the convenience of the fans. Moreover, late evening matches that start at 7:30 PM have their own charm, especially for Indian cricket lovers.

IPL 2021’s New Schedule for the Remaining Matches
IPL 2021 – Points Table So far….
In the first half of 2021, 25 IPL 2021 matches were played in India. Delhi Capitals (DC) is at the top of the table with 6 wins and 2 losses in 8 matches. DC is the most improved team, as it even reached the final of IPL 2020 for the first time in the tournament’s history.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is 2nd on the points table, closely followed by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the 3rd position. Both CSK and RCB have won 5 matches out of seven played, but CSK has a higher net run rate.
RCB’s performance has caught everyone by surprise because, historically, they have been laggards. Even though they are led by Virat Kohli and have a superstar cricketer like AB de Villiers, RCB has performed poorly in the IPL.
Currently, Mumbai Indians (MI) are 4th on the points table after winning 4 games and losing 3 matches. MI are the defending champions of IPL. Moreover, they are the most successful team of the league, having won the cup 5 times.
MI fans are expecting their team to bounce back and reach the top. Then comes Rajasthan Royals (RR), which stands 5th with 3 wins in 7 matches.
Here’s how the Points Table of IPL 2021 Looks Like:
Team | Matches Played | Won | Lost | Net Run Rate | Points |
Delhi Capitals (DC) | 8 | 6 | 2 | +0.547 | 12 |
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) | 7 | 5 | 2 | +1.263 | 10 |
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) | 7 | 5 | 2 | -0.171 | 10 |
Mumbai Indians (MI) | 7 | 4 | 3 | +0.062 | 8 |
Rajasthan Royals (RR) | 7 | 3 | 4 | -0.190 | 6 |
Punjab Kings (PBKS) | 8 | 3 | 5 | -0.368 | 6 |
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) | 7 | 2 | 5 | -0.494 | 4 |
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) | 7 | 1 | 6 | -0.623 | 2 |

What are the Cricket Bettors Thinking?
The rescheduled matches of the IPL’s 14th season are going to bring a lot of excitement for the bettors. The punters are constantly mulling over who will win the cup this year. Can Delhi Capitals or Royal Challengers Bangalore win it for the first time?
Like we said, DC has improved by a mile. This was a team, which used to struggle to reach the playoffs, but they reached the final last time. They have superb players like Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, Shikhar Dhawan, and Prithvi Shaw.
RCB, too, has a chance to win after buying players like Kyle Jamieson and Glenn Maxwell. Or, will we have teams like Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians winning it yet again? Will Punjab Kings, which has won 3 out of 8 games so far, deliver a better performance than earlier.
The last time Punjab Kings did well in IPL was way back in 2014 when they had finished as runners-up. PBKS has superb players like K.L. Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, Chris Gayle, Dawid Malan, and Nicholas Pooran.
What will be the fate of Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad? Will they continue to languish at the bottom of the points-table or bounce back? Two-time IPL winner, KKR, failed to qualify for playoffs in 2019 & 2020. On the other hand, SRH qualified for playoffs in 2019 & 2020 and were the runners-up in 2018.
Some of these teams are capable enough to come back strongly in the remaining IPL matches. Moreover, KKR and SRH have more experience of playing on a big stage than RCB.
As the remaining matches of IPL 2021 get closer, we will bring you answers to a lot of such questions and other insights, which will help you bet on the matches.
